We’re Going on a Bear Hunt at Children 1st @ Main Street
The Early Years have been focusing on their new story of the month, the award winning ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen, with illustrations by Helen Oxenbury.
First published in 1989, the story invites the children to follow and join in a family’s excitement as they wade through the grass, splash through the river and squelch through the mud in search of a bear. What a surprise awaits them in the cave on the other side of the dark forest!
The children have been using the tuff spot outside to recreate the story using the family characters. They really enjoyed exploring the different textures of the squelchy mud and the swishy, swishy grass as well as reading the story with each other. Our curiosity cube has also allowed the children an opportunity to further explore the story and ask lots of questions.
We’re looking forward to having more adventures based on the themes in this wonderful book.
