Chesterfield Royal Hospital Nursery
What makes us magical at Children 1st @ Chesterfield Royal Hospital?
Our wonderful and exciting outdoor space and the fact Ofsted says we are, “Outstanding in All Areas!”
When we opened the nursery in 2000 we knew that our fabulously spacious garden area made us special. It has enabled us to provide our children with some wonderful play and learning opportunities and we know how much joy can be gained from the great outdoors as the seasons change throughout the year. The trim trail, the ‘fort’ and the under tree woodland space provide a great backdrop for our beautiful Georgian house nursery. As we are based on the site of the Royal Hospital at Calow we have forged close relationships with the community, enabling us to take advantage of the local gardening team who come along and keep our grounds in excellent condition!

Our nursery environment enables us to undertake exciting forestry school activities, musical funky feet sessions, baby ballet and we even access the local swimming pool to take advantage of their qualified instructors teaching us to swim. From our tiniest babies to our ‘grown up’ early years’ children – there’s something for everyone!
Our nursery setting is not only loved by the children and their parents (and Ofsted, they think we’re ‘Outstanding’) but it is a big hit with our staff team which is why so many have been with us for such a long time, some for as long as the nursery has been open! Our team at Chesterfield firmly believe that there are magical learning opportunities to be had everywhere – you just have to go out and find them!
We would love the opportunity to show off the nursery that we are so proud of and would like to extend an invitation for you to come and have a look around and even a play in the garden!
