From Caterpillars to Butterflies at Children 1st @ Birstall and St Peter and St Paul

The children at Birstall and St Peter and St Paul have delighted in observing first hand the life cycle of the butterfly.

They loved watching the growth of the caterpillars as they munched their way through leaves until they wrapped themselves in their cocoons.

Probably the most exciting part was watching the butterflies emerge from the cocoons into the big butterfly net. The children were able to see the beautiful colours of the butterflies and even experience the wonder of having one land on their hand before finally it was time to say a goodbye and wave off these beautiful creatures as they flew into the wild.
