You’ve Got a Friend in Me at Children 1st @ Newark Town

Inspired by the book ‘Oliver’s Fruit Salad’ by Vivian French, our latest ‘Feel Good Friday’ activity saw the Peter Rabbits and Early Years making a delicious and very special ‘friendship fruit salad.’ The children brought in some of their favourite fruits from home and helped to carefully chop them up to prepare a snack to share with their friends.

When making her fruit salad Alicia said, “We need to be kind to our friends. This is good for us isn’t it?”

Jack said, “I am kind to my friends, I did good sharing.” You certainly did Jack!

Sharing food is a good way to spend time with friends but as Isaac said, “I can be a good friend by playing and smiling at my friends.” Quite right Isaac.

Activities such as this help the children to talk about their feelings and what makes a good friend, an important part of their early years foundation stage curriculum. It’s also helping the children learn about healthy eating in a fun and engaging way.

The Bobtails have also been busy as part of their ‘Wellies on Wednesday’ activities. This week painting with ice brought forth lots of expressions such as, “Ooooh!’ from Lyra and “Cold!” from Rosie. What a chilly experience!

Anyone wanting to share the fun at home could have a look at the following:
