World Oceans Day at Children 1st @ Sheffield
The ocean covers over 70% of the planet. It is our life source, supporting humanity’s sustenance and that of every other organism on earth. It brings so may benefits to us all but it is now in need of our support.
At Sheffield we decided to mark the day by talking with the children about the small steps we can take to care for our planet.
To help them understand the consequences of our actions we set up a rescue tuff tray activity for the early years to explore. The children were keen to free the sea creatures who had been trapped by the rubbish that gets thrown in the sea and concentrated really hard as they developed their scissor skills to do this.
They all had a sense of a job well done as they completed their rescue mission. Thank- you to our little super stars for helping to set the whales and other sea creatures free.
The children enjoyed this so much we used our fish counting game at group time after.
