What’s It Like to Be A—-? at Children 1st @ Hathern
The children at Hathern have been finding out about ‘People Who Help Us’ and two of the services who play important community roles, Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service.
We were fortunate to have visits from both services. As always, the fire engine causes great excitement and the children certainly made the most of the opportunity to have a close look and to sit in the cab. The fire fighters showed the children the equipment carried on the machine and explained its purpose. A demonstration by the fire fighters of how the hose is used to put out the fire led to a flurry of volunteers all keen to have a go. Needless to say, the car park had a very thorough hosing!
The Police were similarly fantastic in explaining the work they do and in showing important parts of their uniform. As you can see from the photos, the Police hat was a popular choice! As well as discovering just how loud the siren was, the children gave the Police car a very close inspection!
Thanks to the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and the Leicestershire Police for coming to our rescue and giving the children a great first hand learning experience.
