West Midlands Air Ambulance Fundraiser at Children 1st @ Meir Park!

Our nursery in Meir Park took to their bikes to raise money for the West Midlands Air Ambulance Charity by pedalling 30 miles around the nursery car park!

The children completed the challenge over the course of a week and their efforts have so far raised an impressive £843 for the charity.

The inspiration behind the fundraising activity was taken from the nursery’s topic of ‘Transport and Journeys’, with a focus on learning about all things air travel.

Jasmine Clifford, Early Years Practitioner at Children 1st @ Meir Park said: “We came up with the idea to fundraise for the West Midlands Air Ambulance as it ties in with the children’s interest in air travel and is an excellent local cause to support. The service does not receive funding from the Government or National Lottery for its daily missions so relies entirely on the support and generosity of local people and businesses. The pedal power of our children and staff, backed by our kind sponsors, has enabled us to make this contribution towards a very worthy cause.

“The bike ride provided a fun activity for the children to get involved with. They especially loved being able to race their friends around the track. It also sparked their interest in the remarkable work of the air ambulance team. Who knows, maybe one or two of our children will go on to become paramedics!”
