We All Love Books at Children 1st @ Grantham, Newark and The Marina
There’s nothing better than snuggling up for a good read and with so many wonderful books to share, our nurseries were delighted to take part in World Book Day which is the biggest celebration of reading, authors and illustrators in the world.
Newark have been focusing on traditional stories throughout the month with ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen and ‘The Gruffalo’ by Julia Donaldson being two favourites. As can be seen from the photographs, the children staged their own bear hunt and finally found him resting in a tree, waiting for some friends. They were only too happy to share a story with him!
Elsewhere the nursery grounds provided a great backdrop to book related role play. Ava, in her role as Rapunzel, climbed to the top of the castle and cried, “Help me! Help me!” Mr Dan, transformed himself into a unicorn to bring great delight to the children.
The children at all the nurseries wowed the staff with their fantastic costumes. The staff looked pretty good as well! So many characters were represented such as the Mad hatter, Peter Rabbit, Elmer the Elephant and Cinderella.
The nurseries had plenty of little Gruffalos joining in with the fun. At Grantham, the children followed a recipe to create a Gruffalo crumble! They even added blackberries on top to create the purple prickles. They then enjoyed the Gruffalo crumble as part of their Gruffalo tea party celebrations later on in the day.
Many thanks to parents and carers for providing such amazing costumes, all of which helped to spark so much interest in books and their characters. Thanks also to the staff at our nurseries who also transformed themselves for the day.
We hope you enjoy looking at the photographs from Grantham, Newark and The Marina.
