The ‘Year of the Pig’ at Children 1st @ Acorns Upper Tean and Buckinghams
Children at Acorns Upper Tean and Buckinghams at Leek have been finding out about the traditions associated with Chinese New Year It’s been a hands on learning experience at both nurseries, involving creative activities and food!
To celebrate the festival, the Bobtails at Buckinghams, looking fantastic in their blue aprons and chefs’ hats, made pig biscuits which they carefully decorated with fresh fruit.
The Peter Rabbits were also busy with their food tasting, savouring the delights of prawn crackers, spring rolls and rice cakes.
As the pictures show, the children used their painting skills to create some very bright Chinese lanterns.
For the children at Acorns, their celebration of the Chinese New Year brought with it opportunities for so much fun. They were busy making Chinese lanterns, dragon masks, piggy headbands and fortune cookies.
Some of the children experimented at writing Chinese calligraphy using paint and brushes. The Acorn’s nursery cook, Sam, made some yummy Chinese food for snack and served prawn crackers with their delicious sweet and sour chicken.
We hope you enjoy looking through the slideshow showing activities from both the nurseries.
