The Year of the Ox at Children 1st @ Leicester
Millions of people will be celebrating Chinese New Year over the coming days. To mark the new year people will eat lots of food, enjoy fireworks, wear special clothes and hang red lanterns.
This year Chinese New Year will begin on 12 February. The reason the new year falls at this time is because it marks the start of the lunar new year, which is when there is the start of a new moon.
The children at our Leicester nursery celebrated Chinese New Year 2021, the year of the Ox, in a variety of ways, including making and eating some Chinese food.
Peter Rabbits made vegetable spring rolls from scratch and had them alongside their lunch. They were delicious!
Early Years made a good attempt at using chopsticks to eat their lunch which was sweet and sour chicken with rice and prawn crackers. Great effort Early Years!
