The Magic of Books at Children 1st @ Rosemary Lane

Such creative times as the Early Years immersed themselves in books and let their imaginations run wild! Their cooking skills were pretty impressive too!

The story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears started a day of cooking. Of course, it had to be porridge for breakfast. Luckily the children had the porridge to themselves as Goldilocks wasn’t around.

This was followed by making Gruffalo crumble for evening pudding, inspired by Julia Donaldson’s famous character. Early years worked as a great team, measuring, stirring, pouring, and rubbing all our ingredients to create the finest crumble! They were all super excited to get making and waited patiently for the timer to say it’s ready. The delicious pudding quickly disappeared into their tummies as if by magic!

There was plenty of magic going on as we read ‘Room on the Broom’ another of Julia Donaldson’s books. This time it was the creation of some magic witch’s broth. Its various smells almost made noses explode and the colours and different textures they could feel caused so many giggles. Miss Sandy added to the magic with some special ingredients for the finale of the broth. When mixed into the broth, it frothed and foamed, and everyone could hear it crackling.

As well as the broth, some of our friends created some fire breathing dragon cups which looked fabulous!

Great work Early Years!
