The Fun of Woodwork at Children 1st @ The Marina
The children were really fortunate to have a visit from Mr Peter who came along to teach us some woodworking skills. He also left some resources so we could continue to develop our skills in the coming weeks.
The experience helped the children to develop their fine motor skills and to learn the names of words used in construction such as nail, fix and screw. There was also the opportunity to learn about shapes and to count the pieces used. We’re trying to develop our counting skills and have been singing counting songs to help us.
“I fixed one wheel. I have three left,” commented one child. “I’m fixing like daddy,” said another.
As well as experiencing the use of simple tools, Mr Peter also talked to the children about the importance of working safely.
Many thanks to Mr Peter for his visit. We’re all looking forward to continuing to develop our skills with this hands-on experience.
