Room on the Broom at Children 1st @ Newark
Our story of the month, ‘Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson, has inspired the early years’ children to create their own brooms. The book tells the tale of a kind witch who invites a surprising collection of animals to join her on her broom, much to the frustration of her cat.
Using sticks and twigs collected from our garden, the children put them together using ribbon and tape which they carefully cut using scissors. Arthur said, “I’m going to use tape to stick mine together, its super sticky.” Soon, everyone had made their own broom and were set to fly!
“And whooosh! They were gone!”
The children especially loved being able to ride their broom around our wonderful garden. “I could fit a cat on my broom too, just like the witch,” said Isabelle.
