Rockets Galore at Children 1st @ Bilborough
Building on from their recent visit to the planetarium, the children have had a marvellous time finding out about ‘Space’ as they explored the theme through a range of activities across nursery.
In the construction area they made small rockets using an assortment of resources. Then large-scale box modelling gave the children the opportunity to paint their big spacecraft before jetting off on their space adventures. There was some great team work as the children worked together to apply the paint.
The children were very hands-on when they used pipettes to carefully drop paint and create their own aliens. Tactile experiences with space gloop and playdough planets led to chatter and fun as the children’s imaginations took off.
There were mathematical experiences with the children ordering and sticking according to size the stars they had previously cut out. More rockets were made using geometric shapes with the children learning the names of some of them.
Of course, when possible we love bringing food into our topics and our ‘Space’ theme was no exception. Our fruity rockets had everyone placing the fruit carefully on the plate as they created their design. The rockets made fabulous space food, greatly enjoyed by our hungry young astronauts!
We hope you enjoy looking through the gallery of our ‘Space’ adventures which shows the concentration on the faces of the children as they engaged with their activities.
