Our Community Spirit Shines at Children 1st @ Newark
A busy September at Newark sees the nursery supporting community events and receiving a helpful visit from a local farmer showing how good it is when the community supports each other.
All of our children were very lucky to have a tractor come and visit us at nursery. We want to thank Tom from J & J Burnett Ltd, for giving our children this wonderful experience.
We were able to take a look inside and see how tall it made us when we sat on the seat. Afterwards we talked all about harvest and how the tractor is working really hard to gather all the crops that are being grown over the next month.
Whilst out and about we’re going to keep a look out for any tractors we see on the road at the busy harvest time.
Our Peter Rabbits used their creative skills to support the popular Collingham Show. They entered their sunflowers in a competition to create the best sunflower painting and were rewarded by achieving 1st and 3rd places. In the competition to create the best necklace for the queen of the show another 3rd place was achieved.
A big thank-you to Miss Millie for helping us to take part in this community event and a special ‘well done’ to all our little artists involved.
For this year’s Harvest Festival we have decided to support our local foodbank.
Our local foodbank are currently experiencing the highest numbers of referrals in their 10 years. Use of the foodbank was up 60% compared to last year, in both May and June 2022.
We are offering our support to make sure families in the area have access to enough food and other provisions over the coming winter.
In our reception area we are holding our collection throughout September. Please feel free to donate whatever you can to support our collection.
A shopping list showing the goods the foodbank is currently short of is on our Facebook page and is also on display in the nursery. Thank-you to all our families for the support you have already shown.
