Jack and The Beanstalk at Children 1st @ Acorns
The children at Acorns nursery enjoyed reading the infamous ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ story!
Miss Claire began to read the story and the children looked at a bean pod with Miss Anya that one of the parents had grown last year, and dried out in her green house over the winter.
Everyone looked at it and talked about all the different facts about beans that came to mind.
The children then went and planted a tray of beans with Miss Claire to put in their polytunnel, ready to plant out later this year.
Then they began to plant some beans in individual cups…(five as that is how many jack had in the story!) and decided that they were going to put them into their curiosity cube so that they could see what happens!
The children at Acorns have been continuing to look after their beans, hoping to eventually have plenty of beans to eat with their lunch.
The theme of story structure was discussed, explaining to the children what the different parts of story time are e.g. the title, the blurb, the author and the illustrator.
We can’t wait to see how the magic beans turn out!
