Finding Out about Vaisakhi at Children 1st Nurseries
The children at our Grantham, Plumtree and Syston nurseries have been finding out about a very important Sikh festival known as Vaisakhi. This is celebrated annually in April to mark the start of the Spring harvest.
On Vaisakhi, Sikhs go to the Gurdwara in the morning for a service and in the evening, Sikhs have a special meal with family and friends. The festival celebrations include singing, dancing and the sharing of food.
From dressing in brightly coloured clothes, to taking part orange and blue themed activities and dancing to bhangra music, our celebrations were enjoyed by all. Using a range of resources, the children also found out information about the festival.
Please have a look through the gallery to share our celebration.
