Big Schools’ Birdwatch at Children 1st @ Buckinghams, Leek
The children at Buckinghams have been taking part in the Big Schools’ Birdwatch which is a simple bird survey for children and young people of all ages to take part in and enjoy together.
Organised by the RSPB, this annual event is about counting the number of birds in the nursery/school grounds. The results contribute to Big Garden Birdwatch – the world’s largest wildlife survey.
We recorded the type and number of birds we saw each day and then sent our recordings to the Big Birdwatch online.
We saw blackbirds, pigeons, house sparrows and magpies. The children then made marks and recorded their findings on the sheet.
Peter Rabbits joined in with the topic and made bird feeders to encourage the birds. They also made water baths and binoculars.
