Benjamin Bunnies Go Exploring at Children 1st @ Oakwood
While we were outside in the garden, we noticed that some of the Benjamin Bunnies children had become interested in looking at the plants and soil… So, off we went for a walk to our mud kitchen!
The children absolutely loved getting their hands dirty and becoming connected with nature by searching for leaves and bark in the forest.
They developed lots of skills including their social skills as the children were able to share with each other and talk about what they were making, for example making “potions”. They used their gross motor skills to fill up the jugs, saucepans and bowls to make “soup” and “cakes” for their friends, mixing all of the “ingredients” with whisks and spoons.
The children have also been feeling the benefits of being barefoot while out on the grass. They have been talking about what the grass feels like between their toes. One child took their shoes off and went walking on the grass and said, “Wow that’s better!”
On our nature walk we found some items on the grass. We brought these back into nursery to explore further – there was a snail’s shell, a pine cone and a feather!
Well done Benjamin Bunnies!
