Ballet Classes at Children 1st @ Newark
Wow! How exciting to be taking those first steps in ballet! Our very own Miss Paige is a qualified dance teacher and we decided to take advantage of her special talents by introducing our early years children to this wonderful art form.
So far, the children have been imitating movements in response to music and having fun learning ballet techniques such as ‘good feet’, ‘bad feet’ and marching, skipping and balancing. They’ve also been finding out about how to hold their heads and doing exercises to help with this.
The ballet class built on some traditional stories such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and The Three Little Pigs. This brought the whole lesson to life as the children know these stories so well and were keen to add movement to them.
The ballet lessons are great for helping the children to develop skills such as coordination, balance and strength and are also helping us to prepare the children for school, what we call ‘school readiness.’ They have to bring in their own PE kits and get changed ready for their physical activity, just like they will soon be doing at school!
