Arctic Adventures and the Big Parachute at Children 1st @ Newark Town
Igloos and parachutes! There’s been so much going on at our nursery!
Firstly there was a rather special Arctic Day which saw many of the children dressing in cold colours of white and blue. It was enough to make us all shiver! Some children even arrived dressed as characters from the Arctic. A few sneaky penguins even ventured to the Arctic for a little holiday!
Across the nursery the children engaged in a range of sensory and role play activities. There was so much to choose from such as ice play, moon sand, moon dough and foam too.
As the day progressed more and more igloo creations appeared. What a cosy spot to read about the animals and the people who live in the Arctic which was especially enjoyed by Peter Rabbits and Early Years. Peter Rabbits also watched the beautiful Northern Lights as they shone magically from the projector.
The learning benefits of everything the children have experienced are huge but… most importantly, everyone all had fun and shared a wonderful day.
Talking of fun, the Bobtails have discovered what a fun time can be had with the enormous, brightly coloured parachute. This was a new experience for the Bobtails, one which brought smiles to their faces and prompted some lovely singing which they enjoy so much. They joined in with nursery rhymes such as Three Little Monkeys, Row, Row, Row Your Boat and Wind the Bobbin Up. There’s many more parachute adventures to look forward to!
