Allotment Time at Children 1st @ Acorns Upper Tean
The Peter Rabbits children have had a lovely time recently exploring in the field and the allotment.
On the field, the children found the teepees first and saw that they are really big! They explored in and around them and looked at the wildflowers growing nearby.
Then everyone went over to our allotment, ready to take on the really important job of watering all of the planted areas. The hot weather was making the plants dry out. The children took it in turns to give each plant a good soak. They then guessed what kind of fruit and vegetables were growing, carrots, radishes, cabbages, sprouts and beans. When they are ready to be harvested, all the crops will all be put to good use to make our healthy lunches.
In the poly tunnels the children found the strawberries were growing well. Using a magnifying glass they set to work searching to see how many strawberries they could find.
What a lovely outdoor adventure and how good it is to know that pretty soon the children will be eating what they have helped to grow!
