All Aboard at Children 1st @ Main Street
Our Main Street nursery was fortunate to have a visit from TheBookBus recently. Parents, children and staff were invited to pop on board to browse the wonderful collection of books on offer.
The children really enjoyed looking at the variety of books on the shelves. They went on the bus in groups and enjoyed stories read to them by the nursery staff.
We were particularly pleased to welcome this treasure trove of books to Main Street as we know books are so important for children’s development. Apart from bringing so much pleasure, they help to stimulate imaginations and bring factual knowledge to young minds.
“You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book!” – Dr. Seuss.
Earlier in the week everyone was on board to enjoy some Chinese New Year festivities. The children shared a story about the Lunar New Year and picked up some knowledge about Chinese culture and the traditions of the New Year celebrations. They already knew that 2024 is dragon year and the colour red means good luck and happiness!
Later, the children used playdough to create their own dragons, using different resources and tools. They also made colourful paper lanterns. All the activities provided good opportunities for the children to improve their fine motor skills as they were busy cutting paper, painting, making shapes and decorating their creations.
No celebration is complete without food! The children tucked into their delicious Chinese dinner and the children really enjoyed using chopsticks to catch and lift the noodles. They did really well! Great work everyone!
