A Field of Poppies at Children 1st Nurseries - Children 1st Day Nurseries

A Field of Poppies at Children 1st Nurseries

Several of our nurseries marked Remembrance Day by using it as an opportunity to help the children begin to understand the significance of the poppy and, with the older children, to talk about the concept of remembering. With so many activities taking place throughout the week, our nurseries were awash with poppies and the colour red!

Lovely poppies were created using play dough, paint and even pastry cases! Fingers, hands and brushes were used to apply the red paint to the poppies, whilst some children used apples to print onto their poppies. There was plenty of sticking going on whilst the beautiful poppies were made. The opportunity to bake and decorate saw so many tasty creations being produced by our keen bakers.

Poppies were even used for some mathematical activities as the children found them great for sorting, counting, and arranging in order of size.

Poppies of all shapes and sizes made eye-catching displays inside and outside our nurseries and were used to decorate tables at lunchtime. We certainly had some masterpieces as the children revelled in applying paint in so many ways!

Some nurseries talked about the work of the armed services and held a two-minute silence with the older children.

We hope you enjoy looking through a selection of photographs showing our Remembrance Day activities.
