A Creative Start to the Year at Children 1st @ Grantham
The recent weeks have been full of busy and fun activities which have brought sunshine and smiles to some cold and dark winter days.
Early Years learnt all about Chinese New Year, the year of the snake. The children made lanterns and musical instruments and enjoyed singing Gung Hay Fat Choi, a song celebrating the Lunar New Year. They made a huge dragon and danced under and around it, with a parade around the nursery too. The babies engaged their senses as they played in a colourful sensory tuff spot the staff created for them, and Peter Rabbits created their own dragon and painted dragon pictures.
Creativity continued when the children worked together to make a large robot and also made individual ones. They talked about the tools that might be needed to create these robots. Our caretaker Steven took 10 minutes out of his day to show the children the tools in his toolbox and explained what they were used for. The children then made their own giant toolbox, commenting on things that had been made or fixed at home using tools.
So many wonderful creative learning opportunities here, well done everyone!
