A Busy September at Children 1st @ Wragby Road
Wow! September is flying by here at Wragby Road. We’ve had a very busy few weeks in our Peter Rabbits and Early Years rooms, enjoying so many exciting and engaging activities that really support the children’s individual learning and development.
The Peter Rabbits transformed into superheroes and princesses and used their super powers to enjoy lots of different activities throughout the day! Peter Rabbits also enjoyed talking about their houses and building them using a variety of materials. We were so proud of their creations! Scooping and pouring the sand down the tubes and discovering where it went was so exciting!
Early Years have been busy with a range of sorting activities which encouraged them to talk about colours, and do some counting. They added their own ideas to their play, deciding to make caterpillars! Our new puzzles have been a great hit with the Early Years who are so proud when they complete one. Talking about healthy foods led to the children finding out about the various fruits and vegetables they eat. They had a lovely conversation about how they would get a cucumber from its wrapper- ideas such as cutting it up and also using super powers!
Inspired by the classic story, “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt,’ the children enjoyed decorating some “mud” biscuits and explored the Bear Hunt sensory tray! Just like the children in the story, the Early Years have been developing their independence by learning how to put on their coats and then trying to fasten them.
We hope our families have noticed the brightly coloured Autumn bags in reception. These are filled with a variety of activities for you to do at home and we would love for you to fill them with lots of wonderful leaves, sticks, fir cones, conkers etc for us to share at nursery. With Autumn now with us, we’re bound to be as busy as ever here at Wragby Road!
