A Brilliant Autumn at Children 1st @ Rosemary Lane
Harvest was a busy time for everyone at Rosemary Lane as parents, carers and staff worked together to collect a tremendous amount of food for a local charity, ‘The Lincoln Community Larder.’
The Lincoln Community Larder is a registered charity which aims to relieve poverty in the Lincoln area through the provision of nutritious food and other items to those in need of short-term help. Run entirely by local volunteers, the charity also supports those suffering from illness or who have special needs.
A great big thank you from Miss Sandy for the support our food collection received. She is truly overwhelmed with the response and generosity from all, especially in this very challenging time we are in.
In the Peter Rabbits room, Miss Danni created a spooky witch’s broth for the children’s WOW! activity.
This Halloween themed activity led to the children exploring cauldrons and potions, measuring, filling and pouring as they made their own special brew! Using their senses and their imaginations the children added wonderful ingredients to their potions such as creepy crawlies and wiggly eyes. Gold glitter found its way into their creations to add a touch of sparkle.
Bonfire night festivities focused on light and dark. Outside in the Gruffalo story corner, the Early Years’ children created a pretend campfire where they could observe the fading light and experience the fall in temperature. Our thoughts also turned to safety and the children chatted about what would happen if there was a real fire. “Fireman Sam would come!” was the response which then led to the children learning the emergency number to call the fire brigade.
In the fading light the children gathered around the campfire and indulged in some scrumptious hot chocolate with squirty cream and little marshmallows. Miss Leighanne taught the children a special campfire song which got faster and faster as they sang but Miss Leighanne was a star and kept up with the pace!
We’ve had a fantastic Autumn, bursting with activity and creativity. We hope you enjoy looking through the photographs.
