It’s a Small World at Children 1st @ Meir Park
The early years’ team at Meir Park have been busy revamping the outdoor classroom.
As the photographs show, great use was made of tyres to create different fantasy worlds for small play. With a delicate fairy dell, a roaring dinosaur island, a bed of sea shells and a road way, use of the tyres is enabling varying types of imaginative play and language development. One of the advantages of using the tyres to create different scenarios is that they are easily adaptable according to where the children’s imaginations take them.
Other new areas include a wonderful music wall where children can explore making sounds and create their own compositions, whilst on the water wall there’s plenty of scope for learning about the properties of water whilst having tremendous fun.
For quieter times, there’s the very comfy reading and writing tent which is a great place to share a story with a friend.
We hope you enjoy looking through the photographs which show the children engrossed in play in their revamped outdoor classroom.
